May’s lunch networking was a ‘Bring a Friend’ event and it was a great success! 5 new businesses attended for the first time (and 9 members)  and they were from a wide variety of sectors:

Fiona & Julie Bell from Wheathampstead Preservation Society, their aim is to keep Wheathampstead Wonderful. They do this in a number of ways:  planting trees, cleaning signs, upkeep three community gardens, lobby against Luton airport expansion … and much more.  Company membership is £25 one off fee and residents’ membership is £5 per year.

Diane Pope from Shears – she specialises in advising families  how to access funding, help and assistance for their older relative who needs care.

Sarah MacLaren from Money Moves is passionate about preventing climate change by advising women to invest, use and bank with financial institutions who are ethical and don’t use fossil fuels. She is running three workshops in Harpenden over the summer.

Meena Malhotra is a psychotherapist specialising in helping with addictions, marriage problems, imposter syndrome and more ..

Gill Sadler from St Helen’s primary school, Wheathampstead is co Vice-Chair of the govorners and they are looking for people to join the governing body of our excellent local school

The five new attendees were pleased to tell everyone about their businesses and it was good for regular members to meet new businesses.  Alex Thomas from DGS Financial is going to meet up with Diane Pope, and Diane Pope was interested to chat to Meena.

Alex issued a handout summarising the tax allowances that everyone should take advantage of.

Ali Suss-Franksen from Forever Cinderella is a personal stylist who advises on colour, make up and she has an extensive dress hire business.

Chantal from Chantal’s Gifts makes beautiful bespoke greetings cards, prints logos on mugs and makes life-like flowers from paper

Julia Verney told everyone about the Wheathampstead Chapel Halls, Gym and Community Hub

Carolle Harris from Harpenden Wills is a Wills and Power of Attorney specialist offering a personal and bespoke advice

Lesley Jones is a business coach, mentor and trainer.  She also specialises in advising businesses who may want to sell

Ginny reminded everyone of STANTA‘s free business support service consisting of one to one meetings and training courses and they have a 4-6 person office available to rent and a desk space in a shared office.
